As part of my higher education... I did my post graduate (MBA-Ecommerce) from university school of management studies, kashmere gate. The best part of the institute is its close proximity to chandni chowk. During those 2 years of education, I definitely tasted the food from all sorts of places.
Our most favourite drink during all seasons - was Sweet Lassi (drink made from plain yoghurt, with sugar). A shop named "makhan halwai" was just a stone throw away from main gate of university campus. He would serve Lassi in earthen glasses...which trippled the taste. The size of glass would be so huge that it will fill up stomach of even the fat-man.
Another favourite food item for summers would be - rabri faluda being sold in Chandni Chowk. One shop in particular - on Fountain Chowk, just near to the main Car parking. He makes it as a glass full of crushed ice, with multiple flavours; & lots of thick faluda - full of real malai. Yummmm. That kind of faluda is hard to find outside of Chandni Chowk.
Lunch Time @ Chandni Chowk
Are you at Chandni Chowk during lunch Time? U sure won't be thinking of where to go. What other place to go than paranthe wail gali. The Food there with authentic mughlai flavour, no artificial colors or essence, pure spices, full of aroma, dripping in oil. Varied types on stuffed paranthas & nans, fresh made in front of you....served extremely hot. One portion sufficient for 1.5 people.
Our favorite place for lunch used to be "kake da dhaba". Familiar common name, but unfamiliar style. Indian styled. The serving staff there know that, 1 nan is sufficient for one person. If some orders 2 initially, they will still get one only. Then after lunch... Have a glass of shake from Giani's original shop, just next to kake dhaba.
How much I miss those places!! Am sure gonna visit them, at first chance.

DLF IPL 2009 Winners - Deccan Chargers
The team of minnows from IPL season 1 has shut mouths of all - and has emerged winner of the Season 2, by winning match in a nail-bitting final - defeating the runners up team : another minnows of IPL season 1 : Royal Challengers Bangalore by just 6 runs. Even the last over of the match seemed like evenly poised, by the last pair of Bangalore team scoring as much runs as possible - leaving 8 runs to win off the last ball. No change was even left behind by the Royal Challengers. They have been off the hook since the start of their innings. The all round display of the sport showcased the serious business that the tournament has been.
Now all eyes set on to the T20 world cup coming later during the year. Till then - heartiest congratulations to the Hyderabad Deccan Chargers.

Delhi's Verdict for CM - Sheila Dixit
Sheila Dixit has so far proved to be the logest running chief minister for Delhi, and the longest running woman chief minister for any State and India.
Since the year 1993, when Delhi went under election for cheif minister after staying a Union Teriroty for 37 years (1956-1993) - BJP was the party for Delhi. All Delhittes were all gung-ho for BJP. It was myth for us that BJP would do us proud - but 3 CM's over a period of 5 years; and basic food items prices shooting over the edge shattered our myth; and forced Delhi to choose Congress in 1998.
1998 was the year - when Sonia Gandhi had started to take active participation in the Indian Political stage. She took a bold decision to give Sheila Dixit - a pretty unknown/uncommon face in politics - the center of authority for Delhi. The same time around when - Mr Atal Bihari
A lot has happened this then - Phasing out of the "Deadly" Blue-line service, changing face of the Delhi transport service, more organized parking services, better wider roads, phasing out of illegal small industries from residential areas & shifting to industrial areas, forcing the buses trucks and auto rickshaws to shift to CNG alternate fuels, bringing Delhi government more closer to the hearts of the citizen, making a city a more cleaner - a more pollution free - more safer city for the citizen, bringing in traffic control and sense in the city.......and above all - Preparing Delhi for the Commonwealth Games 2010.
The camera shy lady has done it all behind the scenes. She has even stood against the movement in her own party to oust her from CM post. I salute the CM. And hope that each state in India gets a CM like her.
Definitely, it seems like - her efforts and works over the past 11 years have won her accolades, prestige, respect from the Delhittes. She is definitely going to be the people's choice for the post again.

Indi elections 2009
The never ending long elections of the world's largest and oldest democracy are finally over and the people's verdict is out. Sadly I couldnt vote this time around, as I was out of India - been to the UK on a client visit, during the period. There was one surprizing trend I noticed in the UK. Many people in client's office were from UK / Europe....but they all were following the Indian elections. We used to have long conversations about what the goods and bads our government has done for us; and how they have been impacted by it. Those used to be a nice break from the work though. It was the office people, who updated me on victory of Congress government.
In these general elections 2009, the various political parties have taken a new leaps in advertising and promotion. I still remember my school days (1980's) when there used to be a lot of flags for houses tops, flags for scooters, stickers, leaflets, badges, shirt button stickers, thumb stickers, tyre covers painted in parties flags. We, as kids, used to collect as much as possible :) Today, the promotion is more about advertising, educating people, internet ads. There has been a lof inclination towards technology during these elections.
As part of the rigourous promotion; and the actions undertaken by political parties over past 5 years, the people in India too have become better educated. The election results have shown that people of India too want a stable government which can do good for India. The eyes of the world are on India - not just for saying but for reality. Hope our dear honorable PM - Mr. Manmohan Singh does us proud and squashes away the regional parties which have caused so much disruption in the country
